About Vicki
Vicki’s musical journey started early on in life – in fact, on the back yard swing. Learning how to harmonize with her three sisters at the age of seven, Vicki began her musical career as one-fourth of the "Plaster Sisters.” Each of the sisters were blessed with genuine singing voices, innate intonation, and great ears for music. On any given day, musicals, classical music, church music, jazz, rock, or pop could be heard in the Plaster “clubhouse.” Musical theater took center stage for the sisters for many years, as they were cast in numerous of productions of "The Sound of Music" until they outgrew the roles (and the dirndls!) While in high school, the "Plaster Sisters" performed regularly around the Twin Cities, appearing on Telethons, TV Variety shows, radio and dinner shows at Lord Fletchers on Lake Minnetonka. The sisters were eventually signed with a talent agent and went on to tour and record with a professional big band, featuring 40s vocalists Johnny Desmond, Tex Beneke, and Helen O’Connell.
In 1983, the sister act was put on hold as Vicki won the title of Miss Minnesota. She gained valuable speaking and performing experience during her year as Miss Minnesota, and competed for the title of Miss America 1984, which was a pivotal year for the Miss America Organization. The title of Miss America that year went to New Yorker, Vanessa Williams, who later abdicated her title. In 1987, Vicki became one of the founding members of the award-winning 5-voice vocal jazz group, Voice Trek. Voice Trek performed, recorded and toured for over 20 years, winning the title of Midwest Regional Harmony Sweepstakes Champions and achieving the honor of 1st runner up and audience favorite at the National Competition in San Fransisco. In 2005, Voice Trek won $25,000 as recipients of the prestigious McKnight Fellowship for Performing Musicians. As inductees to the Minnesota Music Awards, Voice Trek put vocal jazz on the map here in Minnesota with eight CD's to their credit.
Following Voice Trek's successful musical career for over three decades, Vicki started working as an independent voiceover artist, which led her to all that she is doing today. Vicki has the innate ability to not only use her speaking voice, but her singing voice, to produce a great blend in any musical situation. As a soloist, she is as versatile as the music she sings. As an ensemble performer, she has the ability to blend seamlessly in any group. Aside from her voice-over and commercial work, she composes music, she is a freelance artist and producer, and has directed children’s groups for several musical compilations.
Over the past few years, Vicki has moved into freelance video production. Most of it started when her daughter, Kathryn, became Miss Minnesota 2019 - serving a record 2 years due to the covid-19 pandemic. Over that time, Vicki and Kathryn has to become creative with everything moving online, so together they started Invisible Crown Productions. Since that time, Vicki has continued to do video production work for not only the Miss Minnesota Organization, but also for the Miss America Organization.
